The University of Central Florida's College of Engineering and Computer Science (UCF-CECS) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) welcome you to the February 2004 ISTF "Why Engineering?" Survey. This pilot phase will continue until March 26, 2004.. The survey is designed to reveal what types of information practicing professionals would share about their life experiences with young students. It includes yes/no, multiple choice, fill-in and free-response questions focusing on a range of topics.
The five sections of the survey address:
Building on what pre-college students have experienced participating in the Internet Science and Technology Fair (ISTF) Program, UCF-CECS conducted a local pilot test of the
ISTF
"Why Engineering?" Survey in July of 2003. The information provided valuable insights into decisions engineers made (from grade school to the workplace), what they would have done differently and advice they offer students interested in pursuing engineering as a career.
IEEE is an essential partner in the ISTF "Why Engineering?" Survey. This second pilot test will reach a much larger audience,
as IEEE's Educational Activities Department helps to administer the survey to IEEE members world-wide.
It should reveal a diversity in responses that reflect similarities and differences in cultures, attitudes and outcomes.
On behalf of UCF-CECS and IEEE, we encourage you to take 20 minutes of your time to complete the survey. Your input will remain anonymous, yet when combined with other IEEE members, will help to produce value that will benefit future engineers.
The survey has concluded. - ISTF Director
